I Wasn't Prepared for This

And so it Begins Again

November 10th, 2012. The date in which the new season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic began. Three seasons of My Little Pony. Three years ago I wouldn't have even cared about this show, rather, I probably would have called people who watched it some rather rude names. Yet, due to some fortunate circumstances, here I am, blogging about the newest two episodes. It's funny, isn't it? An eighteen-year-old college student spending a Saturday watching My Little Pony and blogging about it.  Of course the weather isn't super outside right now, but you'd still expect me to at least be playing video games. Anyway, enough about me, on to the two new episodes.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
"The Crystal Empire" Parts 1 & 2

These two episodes, in my opinion, were pretty good. Of course, after the Season 2 finale, I was expecting a bit more butt-kicking and a little less love power, but it still is Friendship is Magic, so I suppose I was expecting a bit too much. All-in-all, a very good two episodes.

SPOILER ALERT!

The first episode, Part 1, was obviously the set-up episode, setting up for Part 2. We learn of the Crystal Empire, the villain, Sombra (who is, of course, named to reflect the main negative emotion/destructive force in this two-part opening), and the Crystal Ponies. Rarity seems to take quite a liking to the Crystal Empire and Crystal Ponies, not surprising. Celestia informs Twilight of a test. The test is to find a way to stop Sombra from corrupting the Crystal Empire once again. During the entire two episodes, the test is referenced many times, Twilight going and doing things on her own so she can pass the test, rather than having her friends help her out. Despite everything Twilight has learned about friendship so far, she still thinks doing things on her own is the best way to get things done. At the beginning, they run from Sombra in his shadow form which he had been cursed with last time he was defeated. He manages to lock Shining Armor's magic away in his horn, making him unable to keep up a barrier like he had back when fighting Chrysalis, the Changeling Queen from Season 2. Princess Cadence had been keeping up a barrier of love and good spirits to keep out Sombra, which turns out was his weakness, convenient considering Cadence's magic over love. Twilight and friends then set off to find a way to protect the Crystal Empire. After some clips, the group meets back up. Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Twilight, Pinkie Pie, and Fluttershy were all unable to find any information whatsoever. Applejack found out there was a library and Twilight quickly brought the group over to look through the entire library to try to find a book on the history of the Crystal Empire. There, they find out that there was a fair every year to strengthen the good spirits and joy of the Crystal Ponies. The group then sets off to recreate this fair, eager to quickly help the Empire. However, due to a missing page in the book, Twilight and friends overlook a serious issue, they need the Crystal Heart, a relic that absorbs power from joy and good spirits and uses it to protect the Empire. Twilight had simply crafted a fake one, not knowing that the real one was an ancient relic. This episode ends with the barrier fading and Sombra emerging from the horizon.

Part 2 begins with Cadence reawakening and putting the barrier back up. As she does this, Sombra collides his horn with the barrier, causing it to break and a piece to fall down inside of the Empire. The piece of horn then sinks into the ground. Twilight then tells Rainbow Dash to keep the fair going and keep the Crystal Ponies in high spirits, because that's what the Crystal Heart runs off of. Rainbow Dash does just this, heading off to quickly relay the message to her friends. Twilight and Spike then head off on a quest to locate the Crystal Heart within the Empire.

What, did you expect me to give you all of part 2? Hah, you're silly. If you want to know what happens, go watch it. I gave you part one, so now you only have to watch the second part. In my opinion, once again, very good episodes, and I look forward to the rest of the season.

Now, normally I'd have Twilight or Applejack or one of the other ponies help me out here, but sadly they are all still on their train ride back home. I do, however, have our favorite muffin-lovin' pony with us today. Derpy's here to answer any and all of your questions you wish to ask her! Leave any questions you want answered down in the comments, and Derpy will answer anything you ask. Right, Derpy?
"Yep! Give me any question you want answered! I'll take any spare muffins off your hooves too! Bye bye everyone!"
Wait, Derpy, I'm not yet ready to end the blog. No, don't click tha-
