A New Story

"Augh! This is so infuriating!" A yellow colored pony, a pegasus pony, slammed her head against a table, causing a nearby ink cartridge to fall off the desk and onto the wooden floor of the library. Thankfully, the ink cartridge was closed and none leaked out. She moved her head so that her face was facing forward, but her chin rested on the wood of the table. Her brown mane's bangs fell into her eyes, but she did not move them away. She whimpered a bit before picking her head up again and yelling. "I should not be in here!" She looked towards her rump. "Does my cutie mark look like a damned book? No! Then why am I watching a library?" She turned around a few times, keeping an eye on her cutie mark, which was a backpack with a compass lying against it. "No, still not a book." She sighed and sat down, putting her head against the table once again. "I should be out in the Everfree forest, having adventures of epic proportions. Yet here I am, rotting away in a library."
A few days before, Mayor Mare had asked this yellow colored pony to watch the library. Well, asked is not really the word we should be using here. It was more of, forced. This particular yellow colored pony was behind in payments, and a job watching the library while it's previous watcher was in Canterlot was the only thing that was available.
She looked towards the window, watching clouds float by in the sky. "Why do we even need a library watcher? I've been here for days and not one person has shown up looking for a book. With Twilight, oh I'm sorry, Princess Twilight Sparkle gone, no one really reads." She stood up and started walking around the library. She stopped in front of the D section. "And just where are all the Daring Do books?" Since Daring Do's original author, and thus the original sixteen books' author, is unknown, Twilight had simply stuck the books in the U section for "Unknown Author." Of course, this didn't sit well with this particular yellow colored pony, so she moved the Daring Do books to the D section for Daring Do. "They were just here last night! Someone must have broken in and taken them.." She groaned, then slowly moved her way back to the table. "Why is this so boring?" she asked, saying each word between steps.
A screech came from the window and the yellow pony looked up towards it. In through the window flew a large hawk that landed on the table next to the yellow pony. The hawk screeched again, and tilted his head to the side to look at the yellow pony.
The yellow pony smiled. "Hey Valor. Did you manage to catch your dinner?" She chuckled as Valor let out a series of short screeches. "Try not to let Fluttershy see you catching those rats. She might not like it if she's good friends with them." The yellow pony stretched out her legs and wings. "Then again, if you're catching prey from the Everfree forest, I doubt she'll even know." She yawned, blinking away the water in her eyes as they formed. "I'm going to call it a night. I'll see you tomorrow, Valor." She made her way up the stairs and plopped into the bed that used to be the sleeping place for Twilight Sparkle before she became a princess. The yellow pony fidgeted around before finding a comfortable spot to fall asleep.
